Ship something and you are added here, and to the changelog entry for the release it goes out in. That is an obligation rather than a courtesy, and it cannot be withdrawn later: §5.6 of the LICENSE requires it.

How credit works

You choose the name.

GitHub handle, display name, or anything reasonable — tell us in the pull request.

Credit appears in two places:

this file, and the docs/CHANGELOG.md entry for the release your work ships in.

Credit survives.

It stays even if the code is later refactored or replaced.

Removal is your call.

If a contribution is removed entirely, we'll remove the credit on request — or leave it, if you'd rather keep it.
